Ficino

Legacy

Marsilio Ficino was a philospher, astrologist, writer, and a translator. But his biggest contribution he did when he was alive was that he translated all of Plato's work into Latin. His name is famous in the history of scholorship. Some people actually called him the second Plato. He also translated "Argo-nautica", the "Orphic Hymns", Homer's "Hymns", and Hesiod's "Theogony."

He wrote an "Introduction to the Philosphy of Plato," about mythology and magic, and all about astrology that helped further moved it. He was head of Florentine Acadamy, which greatly influenced the Italian Renaissance and basically developed European philosophy. He also helped create the Neoplatoism who attempted to give the most positive picture of the planet Saturn.
